Salviati

Salviati was founded more than 160 years ago in Venice, in 1859, when Antonio Salviati, a lawyer from Vicenza who had fallen in love with the precious mosaics of St Mark’s Basilica and was fascinated by Murano glassmaking, decided to start producing mosaics and Murano glass objects. His ambitious and far-sighted goal was to breathe new life into Murano glassmaking, which had been in decline for decades.

Salviati’s story continues into the modern era, defining the innovative style that has always set it apart. The company took part in several international exhibitions and, in 1962, won the highest award in the world of design, the “Compasso d’Oro”, for the Marco vase designed by the architect Sergio Asti.

Since its founding, Salviati has sought new languages in Murano glass, interpreting and updating its inexhaustible magic in a continuous interplay between liquid and solid matter.

Every Salviati piece is inspired by its Venetian roots, with a gaze always turned towards the world, and is made with environmentally sustainable practices and extreme care for every detail: from the shades and reflections to the study of form.

Having become a symbol of Murano glassmaking all over the world, the company respects and celebrates its thousand-year-old tradition every day and is committed to spreading the culture of hand-blown art glass.
