Karbony is the first Made in Italy brand of carbon fibre furnishing solutions. Born from an idea by Carlo Cappellotto and the result of years of research and experimentation, Karbony is the outcome of an unprecedented encounter between a material, carbon, and the disciplines that give it form and structure: design and architecture. It marks the birth of a new project, the first and only one of its kind, with many technical and creative possibilities, shaping spaces for both interior and exterior design.
The material's remarkable lightness reduces the mass that makes up every Karbony structure, while its lattice framework lightens the weight even further. Compared with a solid structure, the Karbony product is unique because it is even lighter while its technical characteristics remain the same.
The entire production process is done by hand, from the drawing on paper to the work at the bench. The manual skill of laying the thread along the planned path is the only thing capable of managing carbon's creative potential. It is the hand that governs measurements, weaves the textures, masters the dimensions of the forms and finishes each piece, giving every product its uniqueness. The result is a collection of furniture pieces that take centre stage through a captivating interplay of shadows, weaves and interlacing.
Thanks to the raw material's extreme strength, Karbony products last over time, resisting even the most extreme weather conditions, certain chemical agents and strong stresses. A further plus is sustainability: the technology used reduces production waste to just a few centimetres of thread. And so, besides cutting fuel consumption for transport, the lightness ensures lower greenhouse gas emissions and greater safety for people. The light weight makes handling easier and speeds up assembly. Add to this the durability of carbon fibre, with little or no maintenance needed on Karbony's product structures, which keep their quality intact over time.
