Remo Buti was an Italian architect and designer who made a significant contribution to the evolution of contemporary design through an experimental, multidisciplinary approach. Trained in Architecture at the University of Florence, he was among the leading figures of the Radical Architecture movement and a co-founder of Global Tools, a workshop that profoundly influenced the debate on design and on the relationship between creativity, craftsmanship and industry.
His design research developed across many fields, from product design to ceramics, from jewellery to furnishing fabrics and architectural materials. At the heart of his work was a constant desire to experiment with new expressive languages, going beyond the traditional boundaries between art, design and architecture.
Over the course of his career he exhibited his work at various editions of the Triennale di Milano and took part in the 1978 Venice Biennale with the Piatti d'architettura series, created together with C. Scarpa. Among his most significant architectural projects are the Language Centre of the University of Florence and the plan for the historic centre of Castel di Sangro, developed with Andrea Branzi.
Through a free, experimental and deeply innovative vision, Remo Buti left an important mark on Italian design culture, helping redefine the role of design as a tool for research, expression and the transformation of the contemporary world.
