Fratelli Boffi is an Italian company that, since 1928, has been creating furniture with sculptural shapes, inspired by classic style and reinterpreted in a modern key.

D/Vision .1 by Fratelli Boffi is a limited-edition designer sideboard designed by Pietro Ferruccio Laviani in 2017. Its starting point is the 1950s trumeau: an imaginary diagonal line divides the piece in two, and the upper part seems to slide downwards in search of support, altering the original design without making it unrecognisable.

The division is also reflected in the colours and finishes: the blue lacquer of the lower part contrasts with the frisé walnut of the upper part, where the original oval mirror remains intact. D/Vision .1 is part of a series of three designs, D/Vision .0, .1 and .2, dedicated to the trumeau. Pietro Ferruccio Laviani, born in Cremona in 1960 and a graduate in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano, where he studied under Achille Castiglioni and Marco Zanuso, has been art director of Kartell since 1991. Fratelli Boffi was founded in 1928 in Lentate sul Seveso, in Brianza, from the cabinetmaking and carving tradition started by Luigi Boffi in the early twentieth century, and reinterprets classic style with irony and eclecticism.
