Martinelli Luce

The brand

Martinelli Luce

Martinelli Luce was founded in 1950 in the heart of Lucca, from the vision of Elio Martinelli, one of the most important lighting designers of the 1960s and 1970s. From the very beginning, the company has stood out for the creative culture and originality of design that run through every creation and, over the years, it has become a benchmark for Italian design worldwide.

The company meets the varied needs of residential projects with a wide range of products suited both to the most refined lifestyles and to everyday, functional ones, translating innovation into different settings and environments.

Essential and dynamic, Martinelli lamps are a perfect combination of rigour, functionality, technology and research, and draw on conceptual archetypes that make them immune to passing trends. In a word: iconic and timeless.

Their aesthetic language, inspired by nature and by the purity of geometric shapes, goes hand in hand with a strong commitment to innovation and experimentation. This has led to a number of creations that have won major international awards, such as the Compasso d’Oro.

The challenge Martinelli Luce sets itself is one of constant change: always seeking new points of view and inspiring people’s creativity and curiosity, so that they can see what seems ordinary to them with new eyes.

Pipistrello POP Media is the glossy yellow version of the table lamp designed by Gae Aulenti in 1965 for Martinelli Luce. It retains the original shape, with the bat-wing-shaped opal acrylic diffuser, but is dressed in a solid, vibrant color, with a glossy black base and details. Each piece is signed and numbered.

Gae Aulenti's classic in a colored version

Gae Aulenti, the architect and designer who left her mark on twentieth-century Italy and curated the layout of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, designed Pipistrello with an aluminum structure and an iron base. In the POP version, yellow transforms the lamp into a chromatic accent: in the medium size, it is perfect on a console table, bedside table, or bookcase, where it brings color without taking up too much space.

What sets it apart from the other versions

  • Glossy yellow body, glossy black base and details.
  • Signed and numbered piece.
  • Dimmer directly on the cable.
  • Dimensions of the medium Pipistrello: Ø 40 cm, height from 50 to 62 cm.
