In Milla – the sideboard designed for MEDULUM by Milanese designer Filippo Protasoni – a simple ribbon of natural fabric transforms into a decorative element, its weave – both clean and geometric, tactile and material – unfurling along the front doors of the furniture, crafted from smooth canaletto walnut.
A delicate process reinterprets the act of weaving in its primordial form, with threads intersected on the loom one by one, manually, as the spaces gradually fill to become a surface. The material contrast in the dialogue between textile and wood is emphasized by the presence of slender brass support points: structural elements with refined and essential linearity, emerging as flashes of light, sparks of reflection.
Like a brooch pinned to a dress.

Medulum

The brand

Medulum

Medulum is a furniture company founded in Meolo, in the Venetian hinterland, which builds on the precious forty-year experience of the Zanchettin family’s joinery workshop. It is a brand that fascinates with evocative creations, blending elegance, refinement and tradition.

The enchanting landscape of the Venetian lagoon, with its shapes and colours, is the main source of inspiration for the brand’s collections. The brand name itself expresses this strong bond: Medulum is, in fact, the Latin name of the river favoured by ancient Venetian nobles to reach their summer residences.

Every creation, whether a bookcase or a coffee table, is finished down to the smallest detail by a team of expert master craftsmen led by Diego Zanchettin. The result is contemporary, refined collections of furniture and accessories that, thanks to collaborations with architects and designers, express skilled woodworking through ever-new languages.

Enhancing the raw material, craftsmanship, research and experimentation are the distinctive traits that have allowed Medulum to stand out and become a symbol of the truest, most authentic Made in Italy.
