Riva 1920

The brand

Riva 1920

Riva 1920 tells of an uninterrupted dialogue between aesthetics and ethics. It all began in 1920 in Cantù, in the heart of Brianza, in a small family-run craft workshop specialising in solid wood furniture. It is the story of a company with solid roots and great craftsmanship that, for over 100 years, has combined innovation and design with respect for the environment and the finest Made in Italy tradition.

Working with leading figures in architecture and art, Riva 1920 stands out for producing furniture of excellent quality in which wood is the undisputed protagonist, creating something special, unique and timeless.

Protecting the environment and a love of nature are its fundamental principles. The quality of the raw materials is the foundation of the production process, which begins with the selection of the finest woods. Every piece of furniture is made exclusively from wood sourced from controlled forestry areas; the species used include maple, cherry, oak and walnut, as well as reclaimed woods such as New Zealand kauri, briccole wood and cedar of Lebanon.

Riva 1920 products are made using techniques rooted in the cabinetmaking tradition, thanks to the skilled hands of highly qualified master carpenters and the use of cutting-edge technologies. Craft production goes beyond standard design processes and guarantees a high level of flexibility and customisation for both the home and contract divisions.

The Venice console by Riva 1920, designed by Claudio Bellini in 2011, is a contemporary and sculptural furnishing accessory inspired by the tradition and landscape of the Venice Lagoon. The structure is composed of a series of Briccola solid wood posts, recovered from the waters of the Venetian lagoon, which support a polished steel top. The distinctive arrangement of the wooden elements creates an evocative interplay of volumes and reflections, enhancing the contrast between the metallic surface and the natural characteristics of the wood, marked by time and the action of water. The top is also available in extra-clear glass and Stopsol glass variants, which offer different effects of transparency and reflection.

Available in three lengths, 125, 180 and 250 cm, with a depth of 50 cm and a height ranging from 69 to 91 cm, Venice is a designer console ideal for entrances, living rooms, living areas and contract environments. The use of reclaimed Briccola solid wood gives each piece unique aesthetic characteristics, while the combination with steel or glass enhances the composition through a contemporary design language. A Made in Italy furnishing accessory that combines material recovery, craftsmanship and aesthetic research, transforming an element of Venetian tradition into a distinctive design object.
