Ballerina by Fratelli Boffi is a designer console table designed by Ugo La Pietra in 1987. It belongs to the limited-edition “a plissé” furniture collection, a project that marks the meeting of design and artistic craftsmanship.

A manifesto of Classic-Contemporary

The “a plissé” collection, produced in a limited edition at the end of the 1980s together with Ugo La Pietra, was created to unite design and artistic craftsmanship and is considered a manifesto of the neo-eclectic movement named “Classico-Contemporaneo” (Classic-Contemporary) at the first Abitare il Tempo conference in Verona. Ugo La Pietra, a designer and researcher in the fields of visual arts and communication, received the Compasso d’Oro for research in 1979 and for his career in 2016. Fratelli Boffi was founded in 1928 in Lentate sul Seveso, in Brianza, from the cabinetmaking and carving tradition started by Luigi Boffi in the early twentieth century, and reinterprets classic style with irony and eclecticism.
