Martinelli Luce

The brand

Martinelli Luce

Martinelli Luce was founded in 1950 in the heart of Lucca, from the vision of Elio Martinelli, one of the most important lighting designers of the 1960s and 1970s. From the very beginning, the company has stood out for the creative culture and originality of design that run through every creation and, over the years, it has become a benchmark for Italian design worldwide.

The company meets the varied needs of residential projects with a wide range of products suited both to the most refined lifestyles and to everyday, functional ones, translating innovation into different settings and environments.

Essential and dynamic, Martinelli lamps are a perfect combination of rigour, functionality, technology and research, and draw on conceptual archetypes that make them immune to passing trends. In a word: iconic and timeless.

Their aesthetic language, inspired by nature and by the purity of geometric shapes, goes hand in hand with a strong commitment to innovation and experimentation. This has led to a number of creations that have won major international awards, such as the Compasso d’Oro.

The challenge Martinelli Luce sets itself is one of constant change: always seeking new points of view and inspiring people’s creativity and curiosity, so that they can see what seems ordinary to them with new eyes.

Biconica by Martinelli Luce is an outdoor floor lamp designed by Elio Martinelli, who founded the company in 1950. Standing 195 cm tall, it has a sculptural body in matt white polyethylene that stays unlit, while light comes only from the head: in a garden it reads as a sculpture first and a light source second.

A geometric shape for open spaces

The design follows Elio Martinelli’s language of clean volumes and essential geometry. The name describes the silhouette, two cones joined together, and the polyethylene body on an iron base makes it suitable for terraces, gardens and the outdoor areas of homes and professional settings.

Light and use

  • LED module with remote-control dimming: adjust the brightness without walking up to the lamp.
  • Corded power supply: plan for an outdoor socket near where it will stand.
  • A 38 cm diameter and 12.4 kg weight keep the footprint compact for poolsides, entrances or terrace corners.
