Cicala by Martinelli Luce is a design pendant lamp by Emiliana Martinelli. What sets it apart is that the light source stays hidden: the aluminium body conceals it and lets you see only the light, which is spread evenly both downwards and upwards, lighting the table and the ceiling at once.

Light without glare

Emiliana Martinelli carried forward the design legacy of her father Elio, founder of Martinelli Luce, with a language of rigorous geometry and close attention to light quality. Cicala shows it well: a methacrylate diffuser and an aluminium shell keep the LED out of direct view, so the light stays comfortable even when the lamp hangs at eye level.

Finishes and placement

  • Four finishes: embossed white, embossed black, textured bronze and vintage brass.
  • At Ø 42 cm and H 27 cm it suits a dining table for four; over long tables, two or three can be hung in a row.
  • The up-and-down light also makes Cicala a good centre light for a living room.
