The brand
Interno Italiano
Bard by Interno Italiano is an upholstered designer pouf designed by Giulio Iacchetti, created as a tribute to Milan. Its shape and texture recall those of the concrete “panettone” parking bollard: with a touch of irony, an object that is by definition uncomfortable and off-putting becomes soft and inviting.
A playful tribute to Milan
The two-way stretch fabric cover reproduces the texture of concrete with a print, while the padding makes the seat comfortable and pleasant. The name pays tribute to Bard, a small village in the Aosta Valley: every Interno Italiano product is named after a lesser-known place in Italy. Giulio Iacchetti has worked in industrial design since 1992, has designed for brands such as Alessi, Danese and Foscarini, and has received two Compasso d’Oro awards, in 2001 for the Moscardino utensil and in 2014 for the Sfera series of manhole covers. Interno Italiano was founded in 2012 by Giulio Iacchetti and Silvia Cortese as a “widespread design factory”: a network of Italian craft workshops and manufacturers that make objects inspired by the Italian way of making and living.
